The consolidated research group Esbrina, Subjectivities and contemporary learning environments (2009SGR 0503) of the University of Barcelona, within the framework of the projects Young immigrants' successful journeys into higher education and the professional sector (Generalitat de Catalunya, Secretaria per la immigració - AGAUR. 2010 ARF1 00039) and Repensar el éxito y el fracaso escolar de la Educación Secundaria desde la relación de los jóvenes con el saber (Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación. EDU2008-03287), announces the international symposium on “Immigration, Higher Education and the Professional Sector”, to be held at the College of Fine Arts, University of Barcelona, on March 23rd, 2012.
Esbrina has carried out other research projects on issues related to diversity and youth, including:
Objective
The main aim of the symposium is to present the results of the project Young immigrants' successful journeys into higher education and the professional sector developed by Esbrina, and to foster exchange among professionals who work in this area.
The principal themes of the symposium are:
- Immigrants' journeys and transitions into higher education and the professional sector.
- Elements that facilitate or hinder immigrants' access to higher education or the professional sector.
- Consequences for educational and social policy.
We invite all people and groups doing research on these themes to contact us about participating.
